Cruise Loch Lomond - FireBoy & FirePro Inspection
Following the successful installation of new FireBoy and FirePro fire detection and suppression systems, MEI successfully completed the vessel’s annual inspections of the FirePro FP fire extinguisher system as well as the FireBoy MA system. All boats were successfully inspected and certified for another year.
V-Ships - Spirit of Discovery - Scrubber Fault
Following a short-notice weekend call from V-Ship regarding a fault with the vessel’s scrubber system, MEI was able to mobilise a team and have an engineer board the vessel within 24 hours. The engineer then sailed with the vessel, assisting with repairs during the vessel’s Atlantic crossing. After a seven-day voyage, MEI disembarked the vessel in Bridgetown, leaving the vessel fault-free.
Briggs Marine - Kingdom of Fife Reygar Installation
In preparation for an upcoming contract, Marine Electrical Installations Ltd (MEI) was tasked with assisting in the installation of a new fuel monitoring system onboard MV Kingdom of Fife. MEI’s scope included the installation of all equipment, the installation of new cabling, and the commissioning of the system with remote support from the Reygar team. The system was successfully installed and completed in time for the commencement of the new contract.
TechnipFMC - Deep Energy Huisman Crane Rewire
Following an enquiry from TechnipFMC, MEI attended the MV Deep Energy during the vessel’s maintenance period in Alabama. A team of six MEI staff attended the vessel and successfully completed the installation, while also receiving a certificate in recognition of their proactive health and safety procedures while onboard.
V-Ships – Spirit of Discovery Dry Dock
MEI recently completed a range of works onboard the Spirit of Discovery during its 2025 dry docking at A&P Falmouth. The project included the installation of new shore supply system cabling, fiber optic data center cabling, CCTV cabling, and the production of new TV power leads for the vessel.
Briggs Marine – QinetiQ Lochgoil Raft
MEI recently completed electrical works on a new raft for the MOD at Loch Goil. Following initial construction by Briggs Marine, MEI was tasked with the full installation of all electrical components. This included developing the electrical design and installing new cabling, cable trays, a distribution board, transformer, and all internal electrical fittings.
Prosafe - Safe Caledonia – Reactivation Works
MEI successfully supported the reactivation of the Safe Caledonia in preparation for its new projects. Our team carried out a range of essential services, including the installation of a new CCTV system, fiber optic and standard cabling and terminating, ATEX inspection, lighting installation and testing, as well as Earth Fault testing and repairs. These works ensured the vessel was fully operational and ready for deployment.
Wärtsilä – Giga Buffalo, Lelystad, NL – Battery Storage Site
Following an enquiry from Wärtsilä, MEI successfully completed the installation of 36 dehumidifiers across the Giga Buffalo BESS site in Lelystad, Netherlands. The installation was successfully commissioned, ensuring optimal environmental conditions for the site’s operations.
Wärtsilä – Indian Queens Battery Storage Site
MEI successfully supported Wärtsilä Battery Storage UK with repair works at their Indian Queens BESS site. Our team carried out a range of mechanical, electrical, and yard support tasks to prepare the site for commissioning, ensuring it was ready for operational deployment.
Co-At – HMS Scott – New HVAC System Installation
In collaboration with Co-At Marine, MEI successfully completed the installation of a new HVAC system onboard HMS Scott during it’s docking in A&P Falmouth. MEI managed the full electrical integration of the system, from the initial survey and design through to procurement, equipment and cabling modification, installation, and final commissioning.
Wärtsilä – Kilmarnock Battery Storage Site
MEI successfully supported Wärtsilä Battery Storage UK with repair works at their Kilmarnock BESS site. Our team carried out a range of mechanical and yard support tasks to prepare the site for commissioning, ensuring smooth and efficient readiness for operational launch.
Bender UK – RRS Discovery
MEI recently completed upgrade works onboard the RRS Discovery. The project involved replacing the vessel’s existing Bender monitoring devices with modern equivalents. MEI provided full support throughout the design, system integration, and installation phases, ensuring a smooth and efficient upgrade.
Technip – Deep Discoverer – Crane Soft Starter Installation
MEI recently completed the installation of new crane soft starters onboard the Deep Discoverer. Our team assisted with the dismantling of the existing starter panels and carried out the installation of newly supplied NOV soft starter panels, ensuring a seamless upgrade to the vessel's crane control systems.
Caledonian MacBrayne – Clansman - Fire Detection
In collaboration with Consilium NL, MEI recently completed an upgrade of the fire detection system onboard the Clansman during its dry docking in Birkenhead. The project involved replacing all sensors, call points, the control panel, and related devices to enhance the vessel's safety systems.
Caledonian MacBrayne – Coruisk – Navigation Light Upgrade
MEI recently completed an upgrade of the Coruisk's navigation lights, replacing the vessel’s old system with new Glamox LED fittings and a modern control system. MEI handled the full process, including survey, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the upgraded system.
Caledonian MacBrayne – Loch Shira – UPS installation
In cooperation with Norco, MEI successfully installed and commissioned a new UPS system onboard the Loch Shira during its 2024/25 dry docking. The project involved conducting the initial survey, system design, procurement, installation, and final commissioning to ensure a reliable power backup solution for the vessel.
Wärtsilä – Deep Blue – AVR Upgrade
MEI assisted with the installation of new cabling for Wärtsilä’s AVR upgrade onboard the Deep Blue. The works were successfully carried out while the vessel was docked in Alabama.
Bender UK – MY Octopus – Earth Monitoring System Installation
Following a request from Bender UK, MEI supported the full installation of a new Earth Monitoring System onboard the MY Octopus during the vessel’s upgrade in Bremerhaven. The project involved the installation of new Bender equipment across nine sections of the main switchboard, enhancing the vessel’s electrical safety and monitoring capabilities.
P&O – Fuel Flow Meter Cable Installation
In collaboration with GME Services, MEI carried out the installation of cabling for the new Fuel Flow Meter System across multiple P&O vessels. The system was designed by Emerson Global and integrated by GME and MEI. MEI successfully completed the cabling work while each vessel remained in active service, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
